How to create a large mirror at a low price?

Do you dream of a large mirror to decorate a room or for utility? But you don't necessarily have a very big budget and want to reuse materials you already have? Through this guide, we suggest you create your own large mirror!

Step 1: find the ideal surface

First and foremost, since the goal is to save money and upcycle, we urge you to look around your home or ask family and friends to find the basis for your large mirror. The surface must be smooth and non-porous, as a grainy surface can cause deformation and poor adhesion of the film. A glass wall seems to be the ideal support to be used as a large mirror !

Step 2: preparing the installation

Equip yourself with the right equipment to apply your mirror film (reference : MIROIR-111i) : cutter, raclette, scraper, maroufle... Find all the installation accessories on Luminis Films!
Thoroughly clean the surface/glass to be filmed to create your large mirror. Soapy water and a dirt scraper are all you need. Once the surface has been thoroughly cleaned and dried with a soft, dry cloth, you can start applying your total mirror film.

Step 3: Apply the film

Start by spraying the surface that will become your large mirror. Then separate the protective film from the mirror film and peel off one part, at this point also spray the adhesive part of the mirror film with soapy water and apply it directly to the substrate. Press firmly from the centre outwards to remove water and bubbles and unroll the film little by little while pressing and removing the protective liner.
Once the film is in place, re-cut the mirror film if necessary and re-squeegee it with a paper towel: this will allow the last traces of water to be removed.
The film of your brand new large mirror will dry by itself in a few hours: now it's your turn to enjoy it!
