Detailed description

The mirror film for windows provides effective protection against the outside world. In response to increased light, the one-way mirror film turns into a mirror and blocks the view from outside to inside. On the other hand, people inside can still see outside. Even though it protects from view, the one-way mirror film allows a large proportion of the light to pass through. Depending on the exposure of your windows, the light reduction is about 10 to 12%.

Made of precious metal particles, the reflective film has the ability to mirror a stronger light on one side than on the other. Which side should I lay my mirror film on? The side on which the mirror is installed does not affect the functioning of the one-way mirror. If you have a single or double glazed window less than 1.2m², install it indoors. For double glazed windows larger than 1.2 m², you should install it outside.

The one-way mirror film works through a balance of light. It is on the brighter side that the mirror effect of the film appears (regardless of whether the film is installed indoors or outdoors). The one-way glass system works perfectly during the day, but at night, themirror effect is reversed and no longer protects you from outside view. Therefore, you need a solution such as shutters or blinds to counteract this.

Mirror film has the ability to retain the pleasant characteristics of glass such as transparency and clarity while cancelling out less desirable features such as glare. The installation of a one-way mirror film is a real plus and allows you to improve your daily comfort.

This mirror film is to be placed on the outside of your glass to avoid any risk of thermal shock. It can be installed on a single pane as well as on a double pane of more than 1.2m². In case of doubt, do not hesitate to consult the technical data sheet or to contact us directly.

Durability: 5 to 8 years for vertical application in Central Europe.

Laying the film is quite complicated

The result is very bad, I have already put a lot of stickers on motorhomes for example, I followed their recommendation but the result is awful!
Traces everywhere, and I think that soapy water is not a good idea, I should have done as with the stickers, use glass cleaner.
I'm going to take them off and throw them away, a 100ene of euro in the garbage, I won't order here anymore.

What you can see on the picture is traces, not bubbles, there are also bubbles, from inside it's very ugly, and from outside even more!
I don't know where the problem comes from, I think the glue used, or the reaction with the soap...
In short I can only advise against this product.

Otherwise, as long as the light is stronger outside than inside, it does its job well.

1 positive point: good cut, desired dimensions: perfect

Products too thin, lack of thickness, I have experience and I am disappointed with the result when installed, I would like to redo everything... I request films for sliding doors and windows, and I receive a product for vehicles.
Can I have the real product, please?

The mirror effect works well, but a lot of small bubbles appeared during drying, even though we did exactly the same thing as in the video demonstration.

Frequently asked questions

  • How do I apply window film?

With a little patience and attention to detail, and by following the installation instructions carefully, you can install your window film yourself. For large surfaces (bay windows, for example), we recommend two people.

Find out how to apply self-adhesive films in this article.

Discover the electrostatic film installation tutorial in this article.

If you don't want to do the installation yourself, don't hesitate to ask for a quote.

  • Should metallized film be applied indoors or outdoors?

We recommend applying a metallized film to the outside of the glass. The film will be more effective, and your glass will be protected from any thermal shock.

Don't panic: our films are designed to withstand the vagaries of the weather over time.

If you cannot apply your metallized film on the outside, you can apply it on the inside in the following cases:

    • Non-laminated single glazing
    • Double-glazed windows less than 1.2m² in area

Good to know: These precautions must be taken to limit the risk of thermal shock, but there is no such thing as 0 risk. Also, there is no contraindication to installing a transparent film on the inside.

If in doubt, contact our advisors.

  • What is thermal shock?

Thermal shock is a reaction that occurs when there is too great a temperature difference between the glass and the surrounding air. This can cause cracks and damage to your glass.

Thermal shock can occur, for example, if you apply a dark tinted film to a large area of double-glazed glass on the inside. The glass will overheat, and may break.

To avoid the risk of thermal shock, we recommend outdoor installation.

  • How do I remove my window film?

Just pull at a gentle angle. If you have electrostatics, it's even easier.

Here's a tutorial on how to remove adhesive window film.

You can also find out how to remove and store your electrostatic window film.

  • Does mirror-effect film protect against heat?

Yes, mirror-effect films automatically protect against heat. Protection varies according to shade. The heat protection properties of mirror effect films are given in the technical data sheet.

  • Does the mirror effect film work at night with the lights on?

No: the mirror effect always occurs on the brighter side. If it's brighter inside than outside, the mirror effect is reversed.

To find out more, visit our article "Does the one-way night mirror work?"

  • Is the brightness of a room affected by mirror-effect solar film?

Yes and no; it's a fairly subjective criterion.

Technically, the more tinted the film, the greater the impact on room luminosity. A very light film, on the other hand, will have virtually no impact.

On the other hand, your feeling of "loss of brightness" will depend on :

    • variations in external light
    • your visual acuity
    • your expectations in terms of brightness

The best way to answer this question is to ask for free samples and test them on your windows! 😉

  • Is mirror-effect film dangerous for birds?

The reflection caused by the mirror effect can actually confuse birds. For this reason, we offer anti-collision stickers. Their purpose is to warn of an obstacle, and thus change the bird's trajectory.

  • Does the color of the film affect its technical characteristics?

Yes and no. The color of the film is purely aesthetic. We would like to point out, however, that the "Silver" colors are the most effective in terms of face protection.

To see the characteristics of a film, we invite you to read its description and technical data sheet.
