Want to change your wall shelving at a lower cost? You've come to the right place! Discover all the steps you need to take to renovate your wall shelf with adhesive coating.
The equipment
There's nothing like having the right equipment for a perfect renovation! At Luminis Films, you can get all the materials you need in a single kit (reference VO216). In this kit, you'll find :
- A felt squeegee;
- A cutter with a new blade;
- Isopropyl alcohol.
All you have to do is find some paper towels.
Preparing the shelf
Clean the surface thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol and paper towel. Don't forget the edges and back of the shelf. Everything needs to be cleaned!
Preparing the decorative adhesive coating
Peel off about 10cm of the protective liner, then fold it back on itself.
Applying the decorative adhesive coating
- Center the adhesive and begin application from the top;
- Press from the center outwards to remove air bubbles;
- Mark the edge and apply the shelf edge;
- Turn the shelf over to apply the edge and top;
- Use the squeegee to mark the slices;
- Finish the application by alternating between covering and removing the liner every 10 cm ;
- Cut off the excess using the shelf to cut straight. For a clean cut, use the edge as a guide;
- To apply the edges, start by cutting the corners in half;
- Mark the slices and apply the edges;
- Cut and remove the adhesive, leaving 1mm on each side.
Change the blade of your cutter before you start cutting.
Edge finishing
- Peel off 5 cm of the protective liner;
- Center and apply adhesive;
- Continue the installation, alternating between marouflage and removal of the liner;
- Mark the stop and continue laying;
- As soon as the strip is applied, cut the excess off flush with the surface.
