How do I remove and store my electrostatic film?

Store your film cleanly for optimum durability.

Electrostatic film, also known as vitrostatic film, is a repositionable window film that allows you to remove it and reposition it later. It's much easier to apply than adhesive film: if you mess up, just remove it and repeat as often as you like. That's the principle!

The end of summer is approaching, and you're wondering how to properly remove and store your electrostatic solar film for next summer. Here's how to store your electrostatic heat protection film.

01

Recover the original packaging

To store your film, you will need :

  • Original cardboard
  • Protective plastic inside
  • Optional: protective liner (if you want to add an extra layer of protection)

02

Peel off your film at one corner

Grab the film from one of the corners of the glass, using your fingers or a scraper. Pull and peel off the top of the film: you'll see, it comes right off.

The electrostatic advantage: 0 glue residues on your glass ;)

03

Wrap your film around its support

Position the film holder just underneath, so as to wrap the film around it. As you roll the film, it will peel off the glass at the same time.

The cylindrical support is the one the film was on when you received it.

04

Put the protective plastic back on

Bubble wrap, placed around the film, provides a layer of protection. It isolates it from the cardboard to prevent scratches and micro-scratches.

05

Put the tube back in its box

Once protected, return the film to its original box and reseal it. This will protect it from light and dust.

For optimum storage, keep the carton in a closed room, away from light and at room temperature (ideally between 15 and 20°C).

And now you can look forward to the next heatwave and put your electrostatic film back on! The application procedure is exactly the same as the first time. To rediscover it, don't hesitate to read our article here;)
