What's the difference between frosted film and one-way mirror film?

The main difference is their opacifying function:

  • The frosted film will block the view from both sides, day and night, even when the light is on.
  • One-way mirror film will block the view from one side only: you'll have a "mirror effect" side and a transparent side through which you can see. This mirror effect will always occur on the brighter side. So be careful when you turn on the lights!

The second difference is obvious: their appearance is completely different.

  • The frosted film has a slightly blurred, more or less "frosted" appearance.
  • The one-way mirror film is crystal-clear, with one side mirror-effect and the other perfectly transparent. The side changes according to the light.

But both films have the same objective: to stop prying eyes and preserve your privacy.

02

Can you see outwards with frosted film?

No, the frosted film opacifies the view from both sides. You won't be seen, and you won't see either. If the loss of visibility bothers you, you can opt for half-height glazing or translucent patterned film.

03

What are the advantages of frosted film?

Frosted film is inexpensive and easy to install yourself. It's a fast, effective solution for protecting against prying eyes. What's more, it lets the maximum amount of light through, diffusing it across the room without cutting it off.

Available in adhesive or electrostatic. The choice is yours! 😉

04

What are the disadvantages of frosted film?

Unlike one-way mirror film, frosted film does not allow you to see outwards. It cuts off the view on both sides. To avoid the "confining" effect, you can apply frosted film to only part of the glazing, or opt for a transparent patterned film.

05

How much does frosted film cost?

Prices vary according to the product reference, the dimensions you need and the type of cut (linear meter or made-to-measure).

To find out the price, simply :

  • Go to a product sheet that interests you
  • Enter your dimensions
  • The price is calculated automatically!

06

How do I apply frosted film?

Installation varies according to the substrate.

If you have adhesive film, you'll need to follow the adhesive film installation instructions.

If you have an electrostatic film, follow the installation instructions for electrostatic film.

And if you don't want to do it yourself, we offer an installation service! 😊

07

Is frosted film applied to the inside or outside of the glass?

It all depends on the film you choose. As far as frosted films are concerned, there's no contraindication to installing them indoors or outdoors.

On our website, product references generally end with "i" or "x" :

  • i = internal installation
  • x = outdoor installation

.

In case of doubt, please read the product description and associated technical data sheet.

08

Does frosted film darken my room?

White or translucent frosted films let light through and diffuse it around the room. Your interior will remain just as bright. Colored frosted films (such as gray or bronze) may darken slightly due to their coloring.

09

Can I order a specific size?

Yes, it's possible. 😊 You can order a specific measurement such as a round or triangle by requesting a free quote.

10

What's the difference between white frosted film and translucent frosted film?

Translucent frosted film lets more light through than white frosted film, even if it also leaves the room luminous.

Also, white frosted film will be slightly more opaque than translucent frosted film.

To give you a more concrete idea:

  • With translucent frosted film, you can see whether there's a man or a woman behind the glass.
  • With white frosted film, we'll see that there's a shape, but we won't be able to tell who it is, or what it is exactly.

11

Can I have my frosted film professionally installed?

Of course 😊 We have many professional installers in France and a few abroad. Don't hesitate to ask for a free quote by contacting our advisors via this form.

12

Can I order a frosted film to be personalized with my own motif/logo?

You can do just that by ordering a customized frosted film. 😊 You can choose between electrostatic or adhesive backing, depending on your needs.

Our graphic designer will call you back following your order to collect your visual and send you a print order, to be validated together. 👌

13

How do I care for frosted film?

Maintenance of frosted film is the same as for conventional glazing. Soapy water and a soft microfiber cloth are all you need to clean your window film.

Avoid abrasive products and automatic window cleaners, which can damage the film.

After installation, we recommend that you allow the film to dry for 1 month before resuming your usual cleaning routine.

14

Which glass types are compatible with frosted film?

You can install frosted film on any type of glazing: single, double or triple. Just make sure the glazing is glass. If it's polycarbonate, you'll need a special polycarbonate film.
