Heat-shielding film installation: our in-house competition

Competition: quick application of heat-shielding film

Would you like to install heat-shielding film to reduce sweltering summer temperatures? Are you wondering how complicated this operation is, and how long it takes?

Don't worry: you've come to the right place! At Luminis Films, we came up with the idea of organizing an in-house competition to measure, stopwatch in hand, the exposure time of an anti-heat film. Spoiler: even the most inexperienced can do it! So, are you ready to find out the results? Let the contest begin!

The rules of the game

For this challenge, we called on five Luminis Films employees. Here are the competitors:

  • Alexandre, our experienced professional fitter;
  • Alexis, our project manager;
  • Amandine, our sales manager;
  • Audrey, our sales representative;
  • Axel, our developer.

What do they have in common? They're all manual workers, motivated and... a little competitive!

The choice of film used

For this experiment, we opted for an electrostatic anti-heat solar film. Why this choice? Because its electrostatic properties simplify installation:

  • No glue needed;
  • The film can be repositioned if necessary;
  • Suitable even for beginners.

Clearly, this type of film allows stress-free posing, with the possibility of correcting one's gestures if necessary 😃

Mandatory installation steps

To make the competition fair, all participants followed the same steps.

1/ Equipment required:

Careful cleaning of windows:

  • Remove all dust, fingerprints and dirt;
  • Dry the surface properly.

Removing the protective film :

  • Gently peel off the liner protecting the heat protection film.

The film's positioning:

  • Spray the glass surface generously with soapy water;
  • Position the solar film on the glass, smoothing from the center to the edges;
  • Remove air bubbles with the squeegee;
  • Trim the excess cleanly.

The competition: results

And now for the verdict

  • Alexandre: 5 minutes 06. No wonder, he's been a professional installer for years. Smooth, fast installation, no mistakes;
  • Axel: 5 minutes 42. A developer with the company for just 16 months, he nevertheless competed brilliantly!
  • Audrey : 5 minutes 53. Like Axel, she has only 16 months' experience with us, but she rose to the challenge with flying colors;
  • Alexis: 6 minutes 03. For a project manager who hasn't yet blown out his first candle at Luminis Films, the result is bluffing! ;
  • Amandine: 6 minutes 24. Surprise of the contest: despite her 10 years of seniority, she finished last. Just goes to show, even with perfect product knowledge, practice makes all the difference.

As you can see, in just a few minutes, each of our employees has successfully applied their heat protection film.
