How do I apply electrostatic window film?

To install your decorative, anti-heat, anti-visual or anti-intrusion films!

The two main differences between an adhesive film and an electrostatic film are :

- The electrostatic film is repositionable, so it can be applied and removed at will without leaving any marks.

- Electrostatic film is easier to apply than adhesive film.

Adhesive film for windows is based on the glue present on the film. Once glued, the adhesive lasts over time. Once removed, it cannot be reused.

Electrostatic window film has no glue: it's charged with static electricity, which makes the film adhere to the glass and can be repositioned at any time.

You'll find all kinds of electrostatic adhesives: decorative adhesives, anti-heat adhesives, anti-visual adhesives.

Now that we've got the basics down, let's move on to the installation method! To your slippers!

How do I apply electrostatic film?

01

Accessories

The installation material is important for a perfect finish of your electrostatic film on your glass:

You can find all these items on our website, as well as our window film installation kit:)

02

Rigorous cleaning of windows

Cleaning the surface is always a crucial step when applying electrostatic or adhesive self-adhesive film. Although electrostatic film allows you to repeat the application if it has a defect, you can also save time by performing a precise cleaning operation :) To achieve this:

  • Spray soapy water over the entire pane and around its edges.
  • Use the scraper and squeegee to remove any impurities.
  • Wipe the surface with a clean, dry cloth.

Don't forget the corners and window frames: small dust particles could get trapped there and fall onto your clean glass. It would be a shame to have to start all over again!

03

Remove the protective film from the electrostatic film

Place your electrostatic window film on a flat surface close to the glass to be covered, with the red dot facing you.

Using two pieces of tape placed on either side of a corner, separate the film from its protection.

While gently removing the film, spray the electrostatic film with plenty ofclear, non-soapy water.

The red dot is located on the side of the protective film. This is the part to be removed.

Did you know? Clear water cancels out the adhesive power of static electricity. It allows you to position your film properly while the water dries. Clever!

04

Position the electrostatic film

To ensure adhesion of the electrostatic film :

  • Moisten the glass to be coated with clear water.
  • Place the wetted side on the glass, holding it from above.
  • Once the film has been applied, spray with clear water to make the maroufle slide easily.

05

Trim off excess if necessary

Do you have a few centimetres of overflow left?

Use the stencil to guide the cutter as you cut, so that it doesn't touch the glass frame, then stencil again.

06

Take off your electrostatic film and put it back on whenever you like.

Would you like to change your decoration? Is your electrostatic heat protection film no longer useful at the end of summer? Would you like your window back without film?

All you have to do is gently pull on the film, replace the protective cover and roll it up in its original packaging.

If kept in a dry, sheltered place, you can reuse it as often as you like ;)

And now you're ready for electrostatic glazing! Pretty simple, isn't it? 😊
