What is "overglazing film"?
Overglazing film is a film, usually made of PVC or PET, which is applied over a pane of glass. It's a practical, economical solution for people who can't (or don't want to) change their windows and woodwork right away.
Overhead glazing films have many advantages:
- You don't have to call in a professional: you can install them yourself!
- Less expensive than replacing windows
- They can be delivered quickly by parcel
- Properly installed, they last for many years
Each film has its own technical and aesthetic characteristics. You can also opt for an electrostatic version of the film : infinitely repositionable!
Is there an anti-cold window film?
To reduce heat loss through windows, insulating glass film is an excellent alternative.
This anti-cold film has metal particles similar to solar films, but is constructed differently to keep the heat in. This is why the film is applied to the inside of the glass.
Do you have single-glazed windows, or double-glazed windows over 20 years old? You're probably concerned by the problem of winterinsulation.

What is the difference between overglazing film and the installation of double or triple glazing?
Let's face it, the main criterion is price. You can expect to pay between €350 and €850 (incl. VAT) to install a PVC double-glazed window. To install cold-insulating film on a window yourself, you'll need to spend around €80 (depending on the size of your pane - here, we're using 125cm x 135cm).
Keep in mind that insulating glass film is a short- to medium-term solution. It's a very good solution if you want to reduce heat loss through your windows, until you have the budget for a long-term solution, i.e. switching to new double or triple glazing.
Cold-shielding film may last for years, but it doesn't come close to the robustness of top-of-the-range double-glazing.
Finally, when it comes toenergy savings, overglazing film has nothing to be ashamed of. The most effective film in our anti-cold range saves up to a third of heat loss.
As a short- or medium-term solution, we're totally on board! 😊
How do I install a window film?
As with conventional adhesive film , patience and attention to detail are your precious allies.
1. Clean your glass perfectly, including corners and edges
2. Moisten glass with soapy water
3. Remove the protective liner from the film
4. Spray soapy water on adhesive area
5. Position your film on the glass, adjusting the angles
6. Mould from the center outwards to eliminate bubbles.
7. Dry your film with a soft cloth
And that's it! Wait a few days for the final result. A few bubbles may appear due to the humidity under the film. Don't panic, they'll go away during drying 😉
