Removing the solar film

To start applying your heat-shielding adhesive, grab a piece of film from a corner of the glass.

Next, gently pull the heat-shielding film along its length to remove it completely from the glazing. You can use a heat gun, hair dryer or steam cleaner for this step. The heat from these devices will melt the glue on the window film, preventing it from remaining on the glass.

Finally, pull gently on the solar film to prevent it from breaking or tearing during removal.

Cleaning the glazing

When applying solar film, there's a 50/50 chance that the glue will come directly with the film.

To remove glue residues from glazing after the heat-shield film has been removed, use a glass scraper and warm or hotsoapy water. This method is a little tedious, but it's the best and safest. You can then apply a new-generation sun protection film.

We strongly advise against using abrasive products to remove excess glue. First of all, these products can severely damage your joinery and window frames. What's more, it prevents you from applying a new solar film, as the acetone or ammonia-type product will attack the glue in the new film.
