Detailed description

This transparent MULTI-180i solar film will protect you from the sun's rays and the heating of your interior while keeping the sun's brightness in your home. Due to its champagne colour, the film is almost invisible while rejecting 49% of solar energy. This adhesive window film will help you to save on air conditioning costs by keeping your home cool. This transparent solar film is ideal for shop windows.

This anti-heat film is to be applied on the inner side of your glazing. If it is without risk for a single glazing, you will not be able to apply it on a double glazing of more than 1,2m² under risk of thermal shock. In case of doubt, do not hesitate to consult the technical data sheet or to contact us directly.

Anti-heat adhesive films are the perfect alternative to air conditioning. Applied to the glass, they keep your home cool even in the hottest summer temperatures.
These anti-heat films also have the particularity of rejecting 99% of UV rays.

Durability: 10 years for vertical application in Central Europe.

This is my first experience with a protective film, the installation was a bit tricky but once I understood it was fine! It's hardly noticeable, but I imagine that installed by a professional it would be invisible. I bought this product to protect my tropical plants from the afternoon sun and I can finally leave the shutters open without the plants burning. I'm delighted! As for the heat, I wasn't expecting a miracle, but there are a few degrees less. What's more, the order arrived super fast, so I'm really very satisfied! I'll probably place another order for Velux windows later on.

Frequently asked questions

  • How do I apply window film?

With a little patience and attention to detail, and by following the installation instructions carefully, you can install your window film yourself. For large surfaces (bay windows, for example), we recommend two people.

Find out how to apply self-adhesive films in this article.

Discover the electrostatic film installation tutorial in this article.

If you don't want to do the installation yourself, don't hesitate to ask for a quote.

  • How many degrees can you gain with heat-shielding film?

It's very difficult to know exactly how many degrees you'll gain. Many factors come into play: the type of insulation in the house, the type of glass, the size of the panes, the surface area of the house, and so on.

In general, you can gain up to 5°C in coolness with an anti-heat film.

Our most effective film, GLASSplus-241x, rejects up to 90% of solar energy. It's an excellent heat barrier to protect your interior.

  • Should metallized film be applied indoors or outdoors?

We recommend applying a metallized film to the outside of the glass. The film will be more effective, and your glass will be protected from any thermal shock.

Don't panic: our films are designed to withstand the vagaries of the weather over time.

If you cannot apply your metallized film on the outside, you can apply it on the inside in the following cases:

    • Non-laminated single glazing
    • Double-glazed windows less than 1.2m² in area

Good to know: These precautions must be taken to limit the risk of thermal shock, but there is no such thing as 0 risk. Also, there is no contraindication to installing a transparent film on the inside.

If in doubt, contact our advisors.

  • Which heat-shielding film should I choose for my skylight?

Exterior installation is highly recommended for velux windows, as they are much more exposed to the sun. We recommend a strong, long-lasting solar film, such as GLASSplus-241x. It will soothe the heat, which is often stifling under roofs.

If you don't have the option of installing a blind on the outside, consider installing a film blind.

  • Is there such a thing as transparent solar film?

The most transparent heat protection film we have is 3M transparent Prestige 70 outdoor.

In very clear films, you'll also love the transparent effect of MULTI-281x, the excellent durability of GLASSplus-242x or the elegant clear champagne look of MULTI-181i.

  • Does heat-shielding film protect against sunlight?

Yes, indeed, metallized solar films provide protection from the sun by creating a mirror effect.

If you're in any doubt about which part number to order for your needs, you can contact an advisor directly.

  • How do I remove my window film?

Just pull at a gentle angle. If you have electrostatics, it's even easier.

Here's a tutorial on how to remove adhesive window film.

You can also find out how to remove and store your electrostatic window film.

  • Is the brightness of a room affected by mirror-effect solar film?

Yes and no; it's a fairly subjective criterion.

Technically, the more tinted the film, the greater the impact on room luminosity. A very light film, on the other hand, will have virtually no impact.

On the other hand, your feeling of "loss of brightness" will depend on :

    • variations in external light
    • your visual acuity
    • your expectations in terms of brightness

The best way to answer this question is to ask for free samples and test them on your windows! 😉

  • What is thermal shock?

Thermal shock is a reaction that occurs when there is too great a temperature difference between the glass and the surrounding air. This can cause cracks and damage to your glass.

Thermal shock can occur, for example, if you apply a dark tinted film to a large area of double-glazed glass on the inside. The glass will overheat, and may break.

To avoid the risk of thermal shock, we recommend outdoor installation.
