The ordered opaque glazing film

With a simple electrical impulse through the film, you can turn your window into real frosted glass. At the touch of a button, the glass surface becomes completely transparent again. This innovative, state-of-the-art film allows you to choose when you want to protect yourself from view.

How does a liquid crystal film work?

LCD films are liquid crystal polymer composites. They consist of a dispersion of nematic liquid crystal droplets in a polymer matrix. These films have original electro-optical properties:

  • they can switch from an "off" scattering state to an "on" transparent state under the application of an electric field. Scattering in the "off" state is due to index fluctuations between droplets when the director, which indicates the average direction of orientation of the nematic, is randomly oriented.
  • Under the influence of an electric field, all directors orient themselves parallel to the field and as the ordinary index of the liquid crystal is close to that of the polymer, the film becomes transparent.
  • In OFF position: the molecules scatter light in all directions: the glass is frosted.
  • In ON position: the electric current flowing through the film aligns the molecules; the glass is transparent.
